Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering

 

Established in 2005 with an initial intake of 60 students, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is committed to providing a comprehensive and quality educational experience. The undergraduate program focuses on building a strong technical foundation while fostering research and innovation, enabling students to excel in their chosen fields.

 

The department offers a wide range of courses covering core areas such as electronics, communication systems, electronic hardware and software, solid-state devices, microelectronics, VLSI, and circuits & systems. The curriculum spans from fundamental concepts to advanced applications including digital communication, satellite systems, GSM and CDMA technologies, speech processing, and embedded systems.

 

The department is dedicated to enhancing students’ global competitiveness and nurturing their ability to develop innovative solutions to societal challenges. Emphasis is placed on inculcating professional ethics, universal values, and a sense of social responsibility.

 

A team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members ensures quality teaching and continuous guidance. Regular interaction between students and faculty promotes the effective application of theoretical knowledge to real-world problems. In addition, special training sessions, workshops, and seminars in areas such as electronics, communication, control systems, and networking are conducted to enhance students’ skills and improve their employability in reputed organizations.

Program Outcomes (POs)

Engineering graduates will be able to:

 

PO1: Engineering knowledge – Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

 

PO2: Problem analysis – Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

 

PO3: Design/development of solutions – Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

 

PO4: Conduct investigations of complex problems – Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

 

PO5: Modern tool usage – Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

 

PO6: The engineer and society – Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

 

PO7: Environment and sustainability – Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

 

PO8: Ethics – Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

 

PO9: Individual and team work – Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

Engineering graduates will be able to:

PSO1: The ability to absorb and apply fundamental knowledge of core Electronics and Communication Engineering subjects in the analysis, design, and development of various types of integrated electronic systems as well as to interpret and synthesize the experimental data Leading to valid conclusions.

PSO2: Competence in using electronic modern IT tools (both software and hardware) for the design and analysis of complex electronic systems in furtherance to research activities.

PEO1: Obtain in-depth knowledge of the core discipline of Electronics & Communication engineering so that they will be successful to design new products and finding technically sound, cost effective and socially acceptable solutions to engineering problems and prepares them for higher studies in their field.

PEO2: Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to handle the real-world problems to find creative and innovative solutions in different fields of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
